Rant of the Month. . . November/December 2002

We live in a world and a time where thoughts and ideas are left behind, passed over for things of greater importance. Things like parties, business, and having fun. We live in a world of an unhappiness concealed behind the facades of smiles and laughs that all in all ring false. “Ignorance is bliss” is becoming more and more of a motto than an adage of pity. Well I still pity. I think, I feel, I know, I crave knowledge as my lungs crave air. It sustains me, keeps me from the desolation of the knowledge of the world in its current status. People pass one another by on the street with nary a hello nowadays. When was the last time you stopped to take notice of things everything, really? Most people never really will. Caught up in the rapture of their meaningless lives, they never stop to live. Well, I am an oddity and damned proud of it. I will think, I will live, I will be. I will not decline into the abyss of ignorance, of knowing only what I am allowed to know. The saddest condition of the human race is its inabilities to question in hand with its superior abitlity to take what is handed to them on a silver platter and never question just what it is behind the hand that feeds them. What is there that you don’t know? How many half truths have you listened to and accepted as all? In a single lifetime, how many original ideas will you have? How many original thoughts or mere strands of lines never before heard by you will you come up with? I pity the mindless sheep as they wander lost in this world - they don't even know what they're missing . . .
